Crossgrain oak vessel #4 BLACK
Oxidized colour made by mixing steel wool and vinegar, which reacts with the tannins in the oak, bringing forth that amazing dark colour!
From a log to finished piece, there's many hours of chainsaw shaping, outside and inside turning/hollowing, sharpening tools many many times, drying, sanding, oiling. The drying process takes 4-8 weeks of slow drying and daily checking. Very time consuming and with a lot of risks that the piece will develop cracks. Hard work but also 10x worth the end results!
Danish oak from 'Jægerspris Skov', turned fresh, slowly dried and warped.
SandedTreated with coldpressed linseedoil + beeswax. 25x19cm
